The Great Pulteney Street gallery website launches this month!
We were fortunate to enjoy a pop-up season at the gallery to celebrate our third birthday in May and April. The gallery is now launching as an exhibition space for hire, and we’re managing it for its initial period.
For those who haven’t been, it’s a beautiful Grade II listed building in the heart of Soho, with three newly refurbished great rooms, all with high ceilings, wooden floors, natural light and great flexibility around what kind of work can be exhibited there.
The gallery is owned by Soho Housing Association, a charity which exists to provide affordable housing in central London. All income from the association’s commercial properties is used to build and maintain affordable housing in the capital’s centre.
We’ve invited long-time collaborator Mary Yacoob to display some work in the gallery to show it off to its best advantage! If you’d like to visit the gallery, please get in touch. We also have a guest night on Wednesday 4th September 6-8pm when there’ll be an opportunity to see both the gallery and Mary Yacoob’s stunning drawings in a display entitled ‘Constellations’. All welcome.

The season runs from 19 April - 31 May, opening on Thursday 18 April 6-8pm (please RSVP to confirm your attendance).
There will be an artist tour of Brutal Space with Mary Yacoob and William Stewart on the last day of the exhibition.

He researches the geopolitics of the International Space Station and explores the ways that the cosmic imaginary intersects with the politics of outer space. William is a cofounder of the Speculative Worlds Research Collective which focuses on speculative thinking and collaborative creative methods.
Sarah-Joy Ford will be in conversation with Veronica Slater on the final day of Ford’s exhibition HARE.
Veronica Slater is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Brighton. Her work is currently featured in the Tate Britain survey Women in Revolt: Art, Activism and the Women’s Movement in the United Kingdom 1970-1990.
She is pictured with Sarah-Joy Ford here, in her persona as the Lady Anatomist.
Jacob Wolff will be at the gallery on Thursday 31st August 7-9pm for a last view of his exhibition and a chance to chat informally to the artist, all welcome
Would you be interested in attending a different kind of private view? A ‘quiet view’ free from clamour and noise, with a calm and restful atmosphere?
On the final day of the exhibition, the artist invites you to join her as she reflects on the works in the show. This seated event, with accompanying refreshments, will present an alternative view of the work, focusing on speech rather than action.
As with previous tours, there will be opportunity to handle/wear the works, but for this event only, we are offering you the chance to have your portrait taken wearing the work.
This event and the portrait are FREE and we can assist with transport costs. Please let us know how best to make coming to the gallery possible and comfortable for you, whether it’s about transport, disability access or anything else.
Join artist Nicola Dale to develop a performance using the works in ‘Head On’.
Nicola has made a series of sculptures that invite the viewer in. They may be placed on the head, or hang off it. They may contain more than one occupant. They may be held up, mulled over, turned whichever way up or differently placed.
This is an invitation to artists, performers, improvisers and experimenters to develop a performance using the different shapes, moods and colours of the sculptures as a jumping off point. What can we come up with as a group?

Join artist Nicola Dale for a performative tour of ‘Head On’ focusing on movement and sound.
Nicola has made a series of sculptures that invite the viewer in. They may be placed on the head, or hang off it. They may contain more than one occupant. They may be held up, mulled over, turned whichever way up or differently placed.
Each sculpture has a different shape, colour and mood. What kinds of sound and movement do these headpieces encourage? Will we move as a group or in isolation? Make a pleasant choir? Or a terrible racket?
This tour is for anyone who enjoys experimenting with words, tones, sounds and related movements .
